Traction without the Overhead of Tracks
Matt Petersen had to make a difficult decision for his farm: Burn a hole in his wallet and buy a new tractor? Or invest in his current tractor? Either way, he needed more traction. In the end he went with option B. Matt chipped his 9620 and added Firestone VF tires and a PTG central tire inflation system. Cracking the Case of the Cracking Wheels
Right before harvest, South Dakota farmer Scott Slepikas discovered cracked wheels on his Case IH combine. A local tire shop had already burned through its inventory of replacements. So Scott decided that it would be wise to seek out a longer-lasting solution. In the end, Scott decided to mount a set of our HD straddle duals, which are built to perform under pressure and prevent pesky cracks from bringing harvest to a halt. As he told us, “these should last me as long as I want to farm.”

A customer of Kibble Equipment needed more ground speed out of his 9R 640 so he could stay ahead of his planter with the field cultivator. We swapped his 800/70R38s for bigger 900/50R46 LSWs. Every pass across a field counts when you’re trying to stop soil compaction from squashing your yields. That’s why Minnesota farmer Luke Engen depends on CTIS to lighten the impact of his John Deere 412R. Planting with Confidence on 1250 LSWs
Brad Walk, a 6th-generation grain and livestock farmer, wasn’t sure about planting into the track of Goodyear 1250 LSWs. He’d already made the switch to VF tires on his planter, but he needed tractor tires that could give him extra flotation, even when loaded down by full fertilizer tanks. Were super singles the way to go? With guidance from Sky and the rest of the team at NTS Tire Supply, he made the switch—and hasn’t looked back.
Leaving Compaction in the Dust
Carson Kahler, also known as the 6th Gen Farmer, believes that CTIS has the potential to stop soil compaction in his tracks and boost yields. It all started when he bought a CTIS system for his farm’s 24-row 1770 John Deere planter. He soon saw what VF radial tires could accomplish when run at ultra-low pressures across the soil: He could kick up dust in his tire tracks with his boots. The ground was loose, not pressed into a solid brick any more. His CTIS system even nearly paid for itself in one season of use, and he’s got the numbers to prove it.
Minnesota Farmer Fights Compaction with CTIS
Minnesota farmer Nathan Serbus has invested a lot in his planter to improve its performance. And last year he added a PTG central tire inflation system and Firestone VF tires to his 24-row 1770 NT planter. He now runs his planter tires at ultra-low air pressures in the field to prevent soil compaction and its negative effects on yield.
Old Reliable, New Grip
Minnesota farmer Shawn Ryan depends on his trusty Case 9270 to tackle his toughest tillage tasks. It’s 26 years old with 8,500 hours on the clock, but “it’s never performed as good as it did this fall.” Sean knew the tractor needed new tires, but couldn’t justify buying $20K worth of tires for a tractor that’s worth $40K. So Sean called NTS and found the perfect fit: 8 used Goodyear 520/85R42s for about half the cost of a new set. Like he says, “shiny paint doesn’t make any more money.”
From Floundering to Flotation with CTIS
Iowa farmer Doug Hansen has been involved in the farm since he could pick up a rock. Doug appreciates how farming builds character and instills the value of hard work. Spring is definitely a season for hard work, as farmers race to get crops in the ground. On Doug’s farm, spring planting is a little bit easier thanks to new VF tires and a central tire inflation system. He now fills both seed hoppers and carries a full load of fertilizer, but doesn’t worry about sinking away in the mud or causing deep soil compaction. Now, his planter floats right across the ground without leaving highways in the field.
Challenger Accepted
Iowa farmer John Fehr is committed to protecting his soil so it doesn’t erode through wind and water. And that means minimizing soil compaction whenever he can. John’s Challenger 1050 was equipped with wide IF radial tires. He noticed that the tractor caused less soil compaction than his track machines, but he wanted to be able to use it year round. So he asked us to come up with a custom tire setup using the tallest VF row crop tires possible. The result is a large footprint and a row-crop tractor that’s ready for work spring, summer, and fall.
A Ford with a Future
Scott Eiler’s dad bought their Ford TW-15 new in 1990. It was the first tractor Scott learned to drive, and it’s still going strong today. Scott recently partnered with NTS Tire Supply to switch the tractor over to 22-inch rows, which included a new set of custom wheels and Alliance FarmPro tires. The process took only 3 weeks from start to finish. “I figure on keeping the tractor for some time.”
A Fast Fix in the Heat of Harvest
Brandon Fast was busy combining beans when he noticed a split in one of his grain cart tires. He immediately called NTS and found four VF520/85R42 Firestones with the stout sidewalls and higher weight rating he was looking for. In less than 24 hours, NTS’s service team was busy at Brandon’s farm near Mountain Lake, Minnesota, installing his new cart tires and loading up his three remaining good tires as trade-ins.
